It was a dark night, around half past ten, and Jason was outside his house, on the edge of the forest. He held a flashlight in one hand, scanning the ground in search of his dad’s reading glasses. His father had left them in front of the house that evening, placing them somewhere nearby while reading. Jason had already searched every corner, checking the two benches and all around the area.As he moved the light across the ground, he suddenly heard a chilling, raspy voice behind him—like an old woman’s—whisper, “Are you looking for these glasses?” His heart skipped a beat, and a wave of fear washed over him. Slowly, he turned around, inch by inch, but when he looked, there was no one there. Then he noticed something on the ground. There, right on a chair, lay his dad’s glasses. Jason took a deep breath, stepped forward slowly, and picked them up, casting a cautious glance around him. He could feel his pulse quickening as he walked swiftly back to the safety of the house.Once inside, he closed the door firmly and locked it. Placing the flashlight on the table in the sitting room, he made his way to his dad’s room, handed over the glasses, and then headed to his own room, eager to put the unsettling experience behind him and finally get some sleep.
