Mark kept glancing at his watch, wondering when the old man would arrive. In the kitchen, Rozy began preparing coffee for the evening. Soon, there was a knock at the door—the old man had arrived. Mark welcomed him warmly and invited him inside, saying, “Come on in; let’s have some coffee.” As they were having coffee, Jason arrived after finishing his rounds. Rozy invited him to join them for tea, and he accepted, taking a seat. The old man looked at Jason and asked, “How are you?”Jason replied, “I’m okay.” He added reassuringly, “Don’t worry, I’ll do my best to take down the devil.”Rozy, with a questioning look, asked him, “Aren’t you sending us to the hotel this time? Is it safe for us to stay here?” The situation is quite risky, but I have to keep Jason with me because this time, the issue is with his body. I need to be extremely careful with every step; otherwise, it could turn problematic for both him and us.Then he told, his plan for tonight. He suggested that Rozy and Mark stay locked inside their room right after dusk. Meanwhile, Jason and I would remain in the living room, where I’d start my work. He also asked Mark to set up the same arrangement as last time—a firepot in the living room. After the coffee, Mark went to the storeroom. He brought back the rectangular firepot, some sticks to burn, and a small amount of oil to help ignite it. It was almost dusk when Mark and Rozy finished setting up. They went inside the room, remembering the old man’s instructions: no matter what happened, they were not to come out unless he called them using the code word.Outside, the old man lit a firepot, its flames casting flickering shadows as he prepared for his work. He gestured for Jason to sit across from him, opposite the firepot. Nervously, Jason took his place, uncertain of what was about to happen. Although he felt a bit afraid, he remembered his parents’ words before they left, encouraging him to be brave and strong. As the old man began his readings, Jason steadied himself, determined to face whatever came next.
