Google has suggested reducing deals with companies like Apple that make its search engine the default. This is part of its legal fight after a judge said Google blocked competition unfairly. Google wants to give users more search engine choices and let partners change defaults once a year. However, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) wants stricter rules, like stopping such deals and selling Chrome. Google says the DOJ’s ideas are too harsh and even its own suggestions could affect its partners. A decision on the case is expected by August 2025.
